Ghoul Party is the afterlife of the party.

Ghoul Party is the solo project of Golden Idols singer and guitarist, Patrick Broz. Relocating from Seattle to Berlin, the continent may have changed, but the chords have not and Ghoul Party strike more than a few. Fusing pop and rock influences from the 60s, 70s, and 80s with Nu Soul sensibilities, Ghoul Party creates music that is both relatable and danceable. So dance with your relatives, or dance with a strange, but do it to Ghoul Party songs.

While the preceding album, Mourning Sex, was full of misguided optimism and, arguably, unhealthy amounts of enthusiasm for the new relationship our protagonist found themselves in, in Doomed, joy slowly gives way to disenfranchisement. Time passes, minor annoyances build, the clinginess of our protagonist becoming cloying and the romantic partner begins to withdraw. The protagonist tries to hold on, then alternate between bouts of depression and feigning ambivalence, followed by something like acceptance. "Doomed" follows this emotional journey over a series of 11 songs, but don't let the subject matter fool you. There are some seriously danceable songs on this album like Feeling You and Get Cold, and plenty of reverb drenched vibe. Despite the subject, this album is not a downer; rather, it edges in on the necessary catharsis of the ethos: dance the pain away.

Not every cloud holds rain. Mourning Sex is 10 songs with some hope and more than a little sarcasm.
